Tavish came to be because I was just so pleased with how William Goat turned out, I wanted to make a collection of friends. And who doesn’t absolutely love highland cows?
To make Tavish, I used #4 acrylic yarn and a 3.0 mm hook. He has 12 mm safety eyes and an embroidered mouth. I don’t have a yarn recommendation as I just use whatever weird brand I can find at the local 100 yen shops when it’s available.
There’s nothing fancy about Tavish. He’s made with just single crochet stitches and a few easy color changes. The hair fringes are a bit of a challenge and might give your hands a workout but even a beginner should be able to make their own highland cow. Alternately, you could opt to attach strands of yarn to make his hair. I personally like the durability of crocheted strands though.
If you’d like the PDF pattern of Tavish to make your own, you can find it on Ravelry.
Look at that cute face!
Before hair. Lookin’ a little bald there, my friend.
Hair in process. Um, quite a unique look.
Don’t you want your very own Tavish? If you decide to try him out, I am always available to answer questions and give help, as long as you forgive me for a Japan time zone slowing me down in response time.
