Bronto the Dinosaur – by Knot Too Shabby

Recently I have been searching for no-sew crochet patterns to speed up my production to beef up my inventory for craft events. I stumbled across this darling little dinosaur and had to try it out.

Can I just say I love this pattern? It is so well written and is very easy to follow with a few well placed photos in the PDF to help you through the details. The PDF is only 6 pages long so it’s printer friendly and everything you need is completely covered in detail in those 6 pages.

I put tiny rattles in mine because they are just the perfect size to be a baby rattle. I whipped these 3 guys out in just 2 evenings in the moments my boys let me sit down.

Overall, I will say trust the pattern. As I was making my first one I kind of worried that the chains for the leg and tail holes were a bit shifted, by perhaps just one stitch, but it really does work out in the end.

I only made 2 notes for myself to make it easier to make more of these.

The first note was to NOT stuff the back end of the body full until AFTER the tail is done so you can get a stuffing stick in there to fill it.

The other note was that the designer tells you to do a decrease at the beginning of the leg but I found I was having a little gap at the other corner as well. That was totally a me problem and not a design problem. I solved my issue by catching a strand between stitches 7 and 8 to add to the 8th stitch as a decrease. It completely closed up that tiny hole I was having. By tiny hole I mean just the tiniest bit of white stuffing could be seen, not like the toy was compromised, I just hate to see any stuffing at all.

This is a paid pattern but it is oh so worth it. She even tells you exactly where to place your safety eyes (mine are embroidered) as you’re going. You could safely just dive right into working this pattern without having to give it a read through first.

I haven’t tried any other patterns by this designer… yet, but this one was such a joy to work from I can confidently say it won’t be my last one from Knot Too Shabby Crochet.
