Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

I want to begin this post with a disclaimer. Disney owns the whole idea of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in its entirety. Please do not sell this pattern or any items made from this pattern. It is meant for personal use only and is classified along the lines of fan art. If Disney ever does release a soft clubhouse toy, I will be removing this post as it will no longer be needed by anyone.

Because I have ads on this site and sell items from here, I have decided to put this PDF on my Facebook community page where I will not profit. Please go there to get your own copy. I have turned off ads on this particular page. If you see an ad, it’s linked to the website as a whole and I cannot turn it off.

Believe me, if I could have purchased a soft clubhouse toy from Disney, I certainly would have. My youngest son fell in love with Mickey entirely on his own as we don’t really ban anything Disney from our home, but we don’t go out of our way to include it either. Then again, we live in Japan and are surrounded by all things Disney all the time. He started to constantly carry around a wooden block from Melissa & Doug which had the clubhouse printed on it. That was fine, but a wooden block also being constantly dropped on my toes was not alright. As a result, I designed my very first crochet pattern to have a soft toy to replace that confounded toe crusher.

There’s a picture of the toe crusher in question.

I have been sewing for a very long time, but I couldn’t quite figure out how to fulfill my vision in fabric. So I started teaching myself how to crochet. I had seen some very awesome creations and I knew it was possible to get a small size with yarn without having to fiddle with tiny seams and pieces if I stuck with just my sewing skills.

I assumed if I learned how to make a few balls and figure out how shoes were made it should be a breeze. I wasn’t wrong, I guess, although I think I made three shoes before I was satisfied with the result.

Ultimately, my “customer” received his order with such excitement and kept it as a permanent extension of his hand for several months. I figured there must be a few more kids out there that would also like a little clubhouse of their own to grip so I took my original notes and made 3 more just to make sure the pattern was right.

Assembly

The ears are the only thing I sew on as I’m going because I like to have those securely fastened from the inside without having to worry about hiding knots. I surface crocheted on the door details on the bottom of the foot but you can just as easily sew details on, or leave them off entirely. The slide gets attached near the center opposite the windows and tacked near the bottom edge to keep it in place and looking like a loop. The windows get sewn on one side and positioned according to the photos. Finally, stuff the red part of the body and sew the circle bottom on. You can even insert a rattle or bell before sewing it closed to give it a little more interest for the special little somebody in your life.
