This section is still under construction and will be updated and edited almost daily. But I wanted to get the content out there to help you on your way to making money!
Have you ever thought about all the time you put into making or even designing wonderful creations and thought there has to be a way to make more money?
Have you ever thought there has to be a way to turn your hobby into an actual full time income generating career?
Have you ever been on a really nice blog and thought to yourself, “I can do that!”?
You’re right! You can make money with your crafting passion and it’s probably as easy as doing something you’re already doing. I bet a majority of you already share your creations on social media. You take pretty pictures to showcase the beauty of your item. You write up a colorful description and maybe even a story to go along with it. You bask in the loving response you get from those you’ve shared it with.
Now how about if you could get paid too?
The answer is as simple as starting your own blog. But hold on a second. Don’t get ahead of yourself like I did. Don’t just sign up for the first free blog site out there. I made the mistake of starting on Blogspot before I even had a game plan. I figured since it was owned by Google and Google Adsense seemed to be everywhere it must be the way to go, right? Well, not exactly. Not in my case anyway. Sure you can make substantial money just having some ads run on your free Blogspot blog, but the real money is with affiliates. Some affiliates pay out better than others. There are even some ad programs that pay much better than Adsense. The thing I wish I knew before I started adding content to my Blogspot and using Pinterest to lure some people in is that Blogspot is not compatible with most advertising options because you need to have your own website to really cash in. As far as I could figure out, Blogspot doesn’t have an option to upgrade to your own dot com.
WordPress is a much better choice when looking to start a free blog. WordPress DOES have the ability to seamlessly upgrade to your own website. The process goes even more smoothly when you decide to go through a website host which will also set you up with your WordPress account at the same time.
I took the time to research which hosting site was the most user friendly with the lowest start up costs. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t have a ton of money to invest in the start of my business. But it does take money to make money, after all. It also takes time.
The reason why it’s important to invest in your own domain instead of just working on a free blog is because of ad money. Most affiliate programs don’t really care how new your site is, but you only make affiliate money if someone makes a purchase through your affiliate link. Ad programs are a different story. While many ad programs pay you according to your site traffic regardless if there are any clicks, most ad campaigns require your site to be up and running (and consistently active) for 6 months. The sooner you invest in getting your own domain name, the sooner you can get an income from running ads.
