Sandwich Play Set – part five

November 12, 2018January 22, 2023 admin

Here is yet another necessary component of a BLT. Lettuce comes in a variety of shades of glorious green. Ruffled and crisp, it adds a delightful texture and freshness to any sandwich. Not just for rabbits, (although it might be fun to feed this to a stuffed bunny friend) play vegetables can encourage kids to… Continue reading Sandwich Play Set – part five

What could be better than a fresh, ripe, juicy, red tomato slice adding color and flavor to a deli sandwich? What? Your kids don't like vegetables? Maybe adding a few to their play things will encourage them to look at their veggies a little more fondly. Tomato (red) 1) 12 sc in MR. Sl st… Continue reading Sandwich Play Set – part three

Sandwich Play Set – part four

BACON! Bacon makes everything taste magical. It's a vital component of every BLT. It completes a hearty breakfast. It only makes sense to add it to a complete play food set.Why pink though? Isn't bacon usually represented in brown? Well, in Japan (where I am and where I sell these finished sets), bacon is pink.… Continue reading Sandwich Play Set – part four

Kenji’s Spotty

November 12, 2018February 15, 2024 admin

The drawing below is the one that started my amigurumi journey. I can't explain why, but that little ladybug drawn by my 5 year old Kenji just pulled on my heart strings and I HAD to make it a tangible, huggable friend.          It was mid-February, 2018… Continue reading Kenji’s Spotty

Fish Rattle by Anne Bank Nielsen

November 9, 2018February 15, 2024 admin

Oh my word! Can I just say that I LOVE this pattern! I had the pattern for awhile but I didn't have much experience with crocheting details right on the body so I kind of kept putting it back in my files. Then I suddenly needed a great baby gift in 2 days and thought, "What… Continue reading Fish Rattle by Anne Bank Nielsen

Sandwich Play Set

November 8, 2018February 15, 2024 admin

I absolutely love textile toys for my own boys. They aren't hard like wooden toys which can break other things if thrown. They are far more durable than plastic. They are washable, at least they are with the materials I choose. And they are practically 100% child safe. When searching for a play set for… Continue reading Sandwich Play Set

Kenji’s Bumble

November 8, 2018February 15, 2024 admin

Basically, ever since my son Kenji could speak he has been saying he wants to be a toy designer when he grows up. He spends all of his free time writing and illustrating his own books, designing his own board games, and designing toys for himself and his little brother. When I began crocheting… Continue reading Kenji’s Bumble

About me

Jen Hateruma

Jen Hateruma

I am a stay-at-home mom of 2 small sons. All of my life I have had a passion for creating things to share with others. It feels like a little piece of me gets spread around to bring joy to people everywhere. My biggest love has always been designing toys. My oldest son, Kenji, is following in my footsteps with that love and dreams of being a toy designer when he grows up. In the meantime, I help him bring some of his design ideas to life.
