Twinkle Elephant Lovey and Rattle

My 6 year old son named these guys Twinkle Loveys because the star shape made him think of “Twinkle Little Star”. The whole idea was born because I just wanted a good design to incorporate fabric into the finished design. I also prefer loveys that still look a bit more like an animal or doll instead of just a head attached to a square blanket.

The loveys and rattles in the pictures were made with #4 worsted medium weight acrylic yarn and a 3.0 mm hook. The loveys measure 12″ from tip of hand to tip of hand. The fabric is just a regular woven cotton, but I think most fabrics would work well too.

The head and trunk is worked as a single piece. Those curved trunks stay that way thanks to carefully planned stitches. I will be completely honest, I don’t think I would recommend this pattern to a complete beginner because of the trunk. It actually is a bit challenging so you should at least be an “adventurous beginner” at a minimum.

The complete pattern has full instructions to make everything in the images. It also has a bunch of photos and written instructions to walk you through hand-sewing on the fabric. The PDF has all the written instructions in the first half with the photos on the last pages so you can keep it printer friendly and only print the typed directions if you choose.

If you already have a complete pattern for any one of the Twinkle Loveys, please know that they all use the same body base and rattle bases. In that case, you can just buy an add-on pattern which will only have instructions for the parts that are different, such as the heads and other embellishments.

It’s up to you to make sure you’re purchasing whichever PDF you need as there are no refunds on instant digital downloads.

Detailed pictures like these will walk you through assembly.
Close-ups will help you see clearly to compare against your own work.
The complete pattern has loads of pictures to help you get great results with your fabric.

I now also have an option to purchase the head only instructions if you have already purchased a pattern with the full body instructions.

For those that already purchased BOTH the Bunny and Unicorn full patterns before this release, please check your email for a free copy of the elephant add-on as my way of saying thanks for the early support!
