I just finished a new lovey design which is a panda but can also very easily just be your average bear too. It has been worked on by my trusted and completely awesome little team of testers and is finally ready for release!
I usually like staying clear of traditional animals because there are already so many options out there. But, then I started thinking about all the weird and wacky color combinations I could do with the boring old black and white of the standard panda. I did stick with black and white while designing just to have a “base” look. I will add new pictures to the end of this post as I make some other nontraditional colored pandas later.
Just like all the other Twinkle Lovey designs, this bear was written up using US terms and worked with #4 medium worsted weight acrylic yarn and my personal choice of 3.0 mm hook. My result measures 12″ from tip of hand to tip of hand. I managed to get a complete lovey and rattle set out of one 40g ball of white and one 40g ball of black with some left over so you shouldn’t be worrying about running short with those size skeins.
Also just like the other Twinkle loveys so far, the head and muzzle are worked as one complete piece. I have been choosing to design this way because I have heard many beginner crocheters mentioning that they have a hard time getting muzzle placement right when sewing parts together. I thought it would help to make an easy anchor point for all of the other sewing and embroidery instructions so even an absolute beginner can get results to be proud of.
The complete pattern includes all of the instructions and photo tutorials that are included in every complete Twinkle Lovey pattern including the ring rattle design too. The head only add-on pattern leaves out the body and fabric sewing tutorial to give you an option of a discounted price if you already have a complete pattern for one of the other loveys in the Twinkle series.
And don’t forget, if you’re not into sewing, you can just make it 100% crochet!
